Race, Gender, and Violence: Using Media to Tell the Story

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

This salon features a trailer for an upcoming documentary about Recy Taylor, who was abducted at gunpoint and gang-raped by seven white men in Abbeville, Ala., in 1944. Her story echoes today in the case of former Oklahoma City police officer Daniel Holtzclaw, who targeted and sexually assaulted poor African-American women. Special emphasis will be placed on how this film can support black women of faith in their churches and how media can be used by faith-based changemakers to educate, raise awareness, and find a path to justice.
